Charlene Choi: Dream comes true playing ugly ducking

charlene choi

Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) will be appearing at the Art Centre from 2nd to 5th July, performing 6 stage plays of "Jade Solid Gold". The play depicts an ugly duckling. Ah Sa disclosed that she has always wanted to perform in theatre in Hong Kong. In the past she could only do it in the mainland, but now, her dream comes true so soon. This play was performed three times before, but not by her. Ah Sa explained "They wanted a girl who can sing and act, and they think I am suitable for that role." The reporter asked if she is satisfied with her fees, Ah Sa replied "Not as much as acting in a movie. Each show lasts for 3 hours and the songs are all 80's, including Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui's songs. I found Rowena Cortes's "Dream Bean Sprouts" a very difficult song to sing as I wasn't even born when she sang that song. It is also very difficult to express myself when I sing that song."

Ah Sa was dubbing the sound of the theatre play "Chibi Maruko Chan" the other day. Incidentally, that play and "Jade Solid Gold" are being performed in theatre at the same time, but Ah Sa said she is not worried about it.
