Following the launching of their radio station, female Heavenly group S.H.E whose relationship was very close, because a new album was still at the planning stage, will be releasing a book this summer to give their fans a look at S.H.E’s other talents in addition to singing and acting. Originally intending to be a pictorial book with only a few pages of text, the final product ended up being a book consisted of both pictures and nearly 70,000 words of text. In this, Ella also demonstrated her self-taught drawing talent. All the illustrations throughout the book were hand-drawn by her. These pictures completely illustrated the emotions behind the words. As for the written portion, in order to accurately and realistically demonstrate the different personalities of the trio, Selina and Ella personally dictated and conducted numerous meetings with the editor for over a month. Selina became so comfortable with the chatting that she did not want to stop and ended up revealing the most secrets. Hebe, on the other hand, chose to write a 20,000 word essay word by word herself during the night at the end of many hectic working days. It was obvious that the trio placed extreme importance on this fairly heavy-weight book.
The name of S.H.E’s new book was [The 3 Spas of Love]. In this book, the readers will be able to see the trio throwing away the burden of being an idol and baring their respective most inner, most secret thoughts during their growing up years to everyone literally and figuratively. The picture used for cover of the book would also illustrate how the close-knitted trio would also often crawl into bed together for a chatting session and sharing their respective thoughts with each other. The relationship of S.H.E was so close that they would not be shy of being in the nude or changing clothes in front of each other. The three would even remind each other to watch their figures. Recently, Selina had been exercising hard to get her body into shape. Seeing how her body had firmed up and lines had tightened had Hebe feeling envious and exclaiming that she must go and work out together with Selina so that she could shape up and tone her muscles. Selina expressed: [Hebe has a slender figure. All she has to do is to stretch her muscles and firm up her body, and she would have perfect lines.] However, S.H.E also stressed that between the three of them, they could talk about any topic at any place. They liked the feeling of sharing with each other. A good example would be this instance when their chatting would end up being over 70,000 words.
In the book [The 3 Spas of Love], other than a collection of all their respective memories of love, hate, likes and dislikes, S.H.E also brought out their treasured photos and for the first time, revealed pictures of their growing up years. They would be generously sharing all the pictures, regardless whether they were beautiful or ugly in them. Ella laughed: [It is precisely because of the past that there is the present me. I looked so much like a boy back then! Now, did I not become a lovely young woman anyways?] Hebe whose personality was more low-keyed, was at first somewhat resistant to the idea of sharing stories of her growing up years. When she was working on the 20,000 word essay, she felt conflicted over whether she must share such truthful inner thoughts. At that time, her mental struggles often led to her having gastric pains and had to go to the hospital to be diagnosed with gastric reflux. She who was currently forbidden to eat spicy or food that contained caffeine shared: [I am so happy that in the end, I still finished it. Actually, to say that we are sharing our stories with everyone, it could be also said that through these memories, I re-learn about myself.]
S.H.E also specially recorded a song as the theme song to [The 3 Spas of Love]. In order to express the atmosphere of hope and warmth from the book, the trio recorded a cover version of Chi Yu and Michelle Pan Yue-yun’s classic song, [Dream Field]. There was no little pressure. They specially invited Huang Yuen-ling who arranged the original harmonizing of this song to compose the harmonizing for S.H.E. Hebe expressed that they “really like the lyrics to [Dream Field]. We did not give ourselves too much pressure in doing a cover version of this song. We only want to sing this song well and to convey a S.H.E feel.” As for why they chose to cover [Dream Field], the trio said in unison that they hoped this book could plant love and hope into the readers’ hearts.
The 2009 S.H.E version of the song [Dream Field], which would display once again the trio’s perfect harmonization, will be premiering on July 1 on HitFM. The highly anticipated [The 3 Spas of Love] which contained probably the most number of words among books written by artists will be available for pre-order starting July 8th.
