31 finalist contestants attended the "Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2009" preselections yesterday. Some of the contestants carried brand handbags and were escorted back to their luxury homes in expensive cars. The assessing of applicants will be particuarly detaled this year due to what happened last year of winner Edelweiss Cheung. TVB need to carefully review the character of the contestant especially if they come from a wealthy background.
The standards of this year are quite poor. Contestants that are of reasonable standards are nicknamed "Explosive Suki Tsui" Grace, "Slim version Bernice Liu" and "Tall version Guey Lun Mei".
The contestants didn't appear in sexy outfits, only "Big chested Chilling" was seen in a low cut dress and sparkling earrings. she disclosed that her company sponsored her the earrings. "Slim version Bernice Liu" was escorted back in a expensive car to her luxury home in Leighton Hill. She is also Adam Cheng's neighbour and feels confident in holding a place in the finals.
As for "Explosive Suki Tsui" Grace, perhaps it was due to the sweat gland incident that happened last time, therefore she was seen weaing a shawl, cap and surgical mask, taking the MTR back home.
Virginia Lok praised the contestants having High academic qualifications
The 10 finalists who will be placed in this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant will meet the press for the first time on June 11th. Virginia Lok revealed " The assessments of applications this year took longer because we needed to check on their backgrounds, hobbies and qualifications etc. We have contestants that have high academic qualifications such as PHD and Master degrees. Many that are working are mainly in the finance industry. As there are only 10 places, we must be very careful in choosing them."
