Charmaine Sheh leave TVB and join Mainland producer

Charmaine Sheh

TVB FaDans are getting fewer and fewer. Charmaine Sheh entered TVB in 1997 and finally decided that she will not renew her contract when it expires in May, breaking the 14 year relationship. Earlier, Charmaine went to Mainland to shoot series and caught the attention of a Mainland producer offering her 15 million yuan for two years. Compared to TVB's HK$20,000 per episode, there is a huge difference. In addition, there are many Mainland rich men that are pursuing her. Having a new place for her career and love life, the 35 year old Charmaine decided to leave her 'maternal home' (TVB) and head north to develop.

It was understood that Charmaine gets paid HK$20,000 per episode in a TVB series, but going up north to shoot a series, she gets a 5 level jump in price, the Chinese yuan is easy to earn. Also, Charmaine's TVB management contract is ending in May and it's of great importance for TVB to convince Charmaine to stay. TVB Executive Virgina Lok already started discussing the contract with Charmaine last October, but unfortunately there was no news that they will take a step forward, so Charmaine was unwilling to sign the contract renewal. Eventually, she ended up losing the TV Queen title to Sheren Tang at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

TVB offers 10 million for 2 years

At an event earlier, Charmaine generously admitted that she and TVB are discussing of a contract renewal and blurted out: "The Mainland market is huge, there is a need of many artists. The salary for shooting Mainland series are also very high." It was said TVB wanted to foster this biological daughter and spared no expense offering her 10 million for a 2 year contract, but this price still differed from the Mainland producer's offer. No wonder Charmaine delayed on picking up the pen to sign the contract.

Faked the injury?

Although TVB tried all they could and offered a generous price to keep Charmaine, she clearly already made her decision, so he suggested some contract conditions that a basically hard for TVB to accept, then TVB can back up. Charmaine is not afraid of losing TVB, last month she borrowed her arm injury to withdraw from Miu Siu Ching's Forensic Heroes III. Charmaine said herself she need a break for 6 weeks for medical treatment and was afraid to hold up the filming schedule, so she withdrew. However, earlier when Charmaine was out on the streets, her left arm seem pretty flexible and really was not as serious as she described. For this reason, rumors started that she didn't want to shoot the series, so she faked her injury.

Initially When Heaven Burns was scheduled to release in April, but it was recently taken out of the schedule and replaced with Michael Tse's Relic of an Emissary.

Besides the money, Charmaine also hopes to find her Mr. Right soon. In fact, she currently has many rich men from Mainland pursuing her. Until now, she still have not chosen one. Since there are new developments in both her career and love life, so she decided to give it a try.

The day before over the phone, Virgina Lok responded: "We are really still discussing. She suggested some conditions, we are considering it." Yesterday reporters contacted Charmaine to confirm, but she has not responded.

Charmaine Sheh visit Kevin Cheng hotel room

Kevin Cheng Charmaine Sheh

After the TVB Anniversary took place last December, Charmaine Sheh Si Man allegedly flew to Hengdian to visit Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, who was filming Bu Bu Jing Xin "步步驚心". Allegedly, a witness even saw Charmaine entering Kevin’s hotel room , in which female cries were heard inside. Through her actions, it was apparent that Charmaine wanted to be back together with Kevin!

In past interviews, Charmaine spoke about handling love relationships, “I don’t mind whether love relationships are revealed publicly or not.” She also stated, “If a man and woman are not married yet, each person still has their own choice.”

Since Charmaine was filming in Hangzhou last December, she appeared at the nearby Hengdian Studios to visit Kevin Cheng on the set of Bu Bu Jing Xin. Apparently, she did not mind making such a public gesture in visiting Kevin. A production crew member recounted, “Last December, the entire production crew saw Charmaine Sheh visiting Kevin Cheng on the set. At first, Kevin did not have much of a reaction and did not appear to be especially excited. During lunch break, Charmaine approached Kevin and pulled out a box of dumplings. They sat in a corner by themselves, conversing quietly and laughing loudly!”

After visiting Kevin on the set, Charmaine allegedly visited Kevin’s hotel room later in the evening. A crew member recounted, “At the time, Charmaine was very careful. She looked left and right to make sure no one was there before entering Kevin’s room. I saw her from afar. I quickly walked away since I did not want any embarrassment. Fortunately, she did not see me. I was curious about her visit, so I stood in front of the hotel room door to listen. I heard the sound of a female crying. The entire crew knows that Charmaine is interested in Kevin, but we don’t know why she loves him so much” Since Charmaine took the initiative to visit Kevin and started crying in his room later, it was understandable that Kevin was moved.

Allegedly, Kevin’s co-star, Liu Si Si, was also present when Charmaine visited Kevin on the filming set of Bu Bu Jing Xin. Apparently, Si Si was one of the many female admirers Kevin had on the set. She frequently asked Kevin to accompany her for hotpot dinners. When the press contacted Liu Si Si, she sounded shocked, “Sorry, I can not talk right now!” Apparently, Si Si did not want to be further involved in the love triangle rumors!

In the past, Charmaine openly praised Kevin, “He is very practical and not the type of man who just wants to have fun. He is stable and honest. He has qualities that would make him a good marriage partner.” Romantic rumors between Charmaine and Kevin started in 2007, when they filmed Forensic Heroes II "法證先鋒II" together. Allegedly, Charmaine was spotted entering Kevin’s house in Sai Kung at the time. In 2009, break-up rumors circulated and the press speculated that Charmaine and Kevin broke up because he did not want to openly acknowledge their relationship.

Charmaine Sheh withdraw from drama Forensic Heroes III

Charmaine Sheh Forensic Heroes III

According to news, the night before yesterday, Charmaine Sheh was preparing to get back to Hong Kong from Hangzhou. However, heavy snow hit when she got to the airport, she accidentally slipped and fell on the slippery ice when she was getting out of the car. Her left elbow hit the ground first, causing a joint dislocation. She was sent to the local hospital to get a cast. When Charmaine got back to Hong Kong, she went to see a doctor again, and got another cast. Because she needs some time to recover, she is forced to withdraw from her Forensic Heroes III (FH3) participation.

Yesterday Charmaine accepted a telephone interview, she said in a weak voice: "I discovered that my leg started to feel numb, the doctor examined me and said there is some pressure on my nerves, right now both of my legs hurt a lot. My waist can't maintain a posture for too long, so last night I didn't have a very good sleep." Although there are a lot of inconvenient situations in life, fortunately Mother Sheh is in Hong Kong to look after her. Yesterday Charmaine talked to Producer Miu Siu Ching, Executives Catherine Tsang and Virigina Lok, she said: "What I am most unhappy about is that I affected Siu Ching Jeh, causing much trouble for her. The FH3 crew already started shooting in the studio, it's difficult for them to stop and wait for me now. Eventually TVB told me to take a break for recovery. This is my first time co-starring with Wayne Lai, now that I can't shoot the series, such a pity."

Producer in a headache to find a replacement

Producer Miu Siu Ching admitted that she is eager to find a good actress and frontline actress to replace Charmaine, she said: "Currently handling the situation, initially she was to start working today, now it definitely has been affected! But, Charmaine really has good artist ethics, she also said she afraid we won't know what to do. (Any replacements in mind?) Should be a frontline actress! Earlier, I watched the scenes that Wayne and Kate Tsui did, they did very well, I do hope to find a good actress." She stressed that what's most important is for Charmaine to get well soon: "Even if she forced herself to work, her joint can easily get dislocated, after getting through 6 weeks, she'll have to go in for physical therapy too."

Initially paired with Charmaine in the series, Wayne's partner got her joint dislocated and have to 'dump' the new series, he said: "Can't believe our first collaboration would fail, did I give her bad luck? (Who do you want to replace your partner?) I really don't know, it's hard to say, everyone's already scheduled for other work, I also feel the headache the Producer is feeling now. (Find someone as pretty as Charmaine?) Of course! Most important is a pretty girl, I'm a handsome guy in the series!" Also part of the series, Kate heard about Charmaine's injury, she said: "What's most important is that she gets better soon, I haven't collaborated with her before, initially I was planning to steal some tips from her, but now the opportunity is gone, such a pity."

Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh in Colorful World Of Sister Fa

Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh

Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh were filming (Colorful World of Sister Fa) earlier last night. Raymond Lam was driving to fetch Charmaine Sheh. Although the rumoured couple were sitting in the same car for filming, they could not be bothered about the rumours and appeared even more intimate than they are in the series. After Raymond massaged his neck area, he also didn't mind helping Charmaine to massage her neck. Toby Leung who was at the filming scene also laughed and said, "I won't get on the ride, I know what to do."

Besides this, there was also news about Fala Chen wanting to compete for TV Queen. AboutFala being a threat to Charmaine, Raymond highly supported Charmaine, but Charmaine also highly praised Fala for being hardworking and smart, "Her Cantonese is not so good, so she used "pinyin" to remember, she put in more effort compare to others." (Do you have confidence?) "Talk about that later, don't even know if I'll be nominated." The hot choice for TV King Raymond Lam was also asked about this topic and he said, "Don't ask about these, every year it's about all these, I'm satisfied with my achievements this year, as long as the characters can be remembered by the audiences it's good enough." Toby on the other hand said that being nominated as the Best Improved is enough to make her happy.

About Charlene Choi and William Chan's publicly announced relationship, Raymond said that when she was collaborating Charlene there were no signs of her dating, however he sent his blessings to them.

Charmaine Sheh and Wayne Lai in Forensic Heroes 3

Charmaine Sheh

It's another TV King and Queen collaboration. Charmaine Sheh to collaborate with Wayne Lai in the sequel of hit series "Forensic Heroes"---"Forensic Heroes 3". Earlier reports exposed Kevin Cheng is replacing the main lead from the previous installments, Bobby Au-Yeung, as the lead in the new "FH." But now it's confirmed it will be Wayne.

Yesterday reporters contacted producer of the series Mui Siu Ching and she disclosed "FH3" to start shooting in December. "Leads include Wayne Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Kate Tsui, and Ron Ng. Because it's hard to write more about the old leads, so this time it would be a brand new story and new characters. Plus many good actors died in the previous stories, hope they can come back in this new story. "

Mui also disclosed some information about Wayne and Charmaine's characters in the series. "Charmaine won't play a police this time. She will play a forensic pathologist. Wayne will play a cool police and solve cases with Charmaine. Of course they are going to have some romantic scenes. Since the two never worked with each other before, so it should be something fresh to viewers."

Wayne appeared to be excited when talked about collaborating with Charmaine. "To be honest, been shooting series for many years, I almost collaborate with every TVB actress but not Charmaine. My partner is getting younger. I think she is very smart and her acting improved a lot. So I can't wait to collaborate with her," he said on the phone.

Because he has to play a handsome police and pair with the pretty Charmaine, Wayne vowed to lose some weight. "I weight 145lbs now. I hope I can lose about 10 or 8lbs before the series starts shooting, so I can pair with Charmaine!"

Charmaine is also excited to work with Wayne. "Don't know whether it's confirmed. If it's true, it's definitely a good thing because I never worked with Wayne before. He is a good actor. I watched his 'Rosy Business.'"

Charmaine Sheh is the most expensive "dinner guest"

charmaine sheh

Guang Ming Daily reported that Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh See-Man is the most expensive "dinner guest". It is a common scenario in the special administrative region's entertainment industry for female artistes to attend dinner parties hosted by rich men for a price. Sheh was also Miss Hong Kong second runner-up in 1997. Rich men from China have offered the TVB star HK$1.5mil (RM650,610) to attend a dinner party.

Coming in second is Tavia Yeung Yi (RM520,490), followed by Miss Hong Kong 2005 Tracy Ip and model Chrissie Chau (RM346,990).

Charmaine Sheh's ears hot and blushes as she talks about break up

Charmaine Sheh

Charmaine Sheh had just returned from Hawaii just after her series "You're Hired" with Dayo Wong ended last night. After returning, Charmaine immediately went to the dinner celebration and to watch the finale with the cast. The cast who attended includes Queenie Chu, Producer Nelson Cheung, Ha Ping, etc. Charmaine expressed that she only wants everyone to be happy, spending a small sum of money is not a problem. She hopes that the series could reach 40 points in ratings.

Recently there has been rumors that she and Kevin Cheng broke up. On Kevin's birthday, he exposed himself that he's falling out of love. The other night, it was Charmaine's first time responding to the rumors, but she appeared quite embarrassed about the rumors that she was blushing and her ears were turning red! Charmaine strongly stressed that they are just good friends and had always been. "Saying that we broke up is better than rumors, what a sign of relief." Kevin is currently in the United States for work, therefore the Media was unable to contact him yet.

Charmaine Sheh feels hopeless sometimes

Charmaine Sheh

Many Hong Kong Movie award winners have said when they become actors they become passionate. When their acting reaches an established level they recieve recognition. But when the market is bad, they can only wait for luck. Charmaine Sheh is a Miss Hong Kong 2nd Runner up and also an actress. In TVB's 2006 Anniversary Award Ceremony she was awarded a double and recieved the TV Queen title. Reaching the top of her career, she was still shooting TV series one after the other. The results are not disappointing either. When someone gets famous they also become a topic of discussion whether its about rumors, personality and not getting along with others.

She said "If you achieve alot you will also lose many things. There are advantages and disadvantages. The first thing is that you can maintain your popularity. But the disadvantage is that many of the things being said are untrue. It is quite confusing. You either love it or hate it. I have no control over it, so let it be. If I haven't been in the news lately then thats okay, If you're discussing about me then say what you like. I cannot do anything about it".

Charmaine has been in the industry for 12 years. Society and technology has also improved. She expressed that she has recently injured her lower back. As a reporter, I was afraid that extreme discussions may increase her movement and affect her back pain.

Miss Hong Kong 1997 Charmaine Sheh has become a popular TVB Fa Dan to date. Currently TVB series "You're Hired has peaked ratings of 33 points. She has also completed the shooting for TVB Grand production "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" and taken a 1 month holiday. While taking time off she would be able to do things she didn't have time to do such as spending 3 hours for a magazine shoot, have dinner with friends she hasn't seen for a year, stay at home to watch TV and take a flight to Hawaii to visit her Mom etc. "I cannot totally rest because I have too many social gatherings with friends. Hong Kong is a small place, yet the Paparazzi's are too much. Especially during this century, don't you think there aren't any celebrities? Because of the way they are treated by the paparazzi's. How can there be any left?

The First step in becoming an actress

Charmaine made the first step to becoming an actress. "When they first asked me if I was interested in auditioning to become an actress, I didn't think about it and said [Of Course I will try]. Why did I want try? Actually I wanted to try a lot of new things. The Miss Hong Kong Pageant was over, yet I recieved an award. Would I need do charity work everyday? Even if I do, it would just be for 1 year. I was just feeling very curious and playful when I filmed my first few TV series. People said that my acting was poor but I had already given my best. I had limited knowledge of acting and no acting experience. That's why it was average, I needed to have more experience to gain the acting skills. I felt that maybe this industry wasn't right for me and that maybe I should change industries. I had these thoughts even though I already signed a 3 year artist contract with TVB. One year I would shoot 100 episodes of TV series. How would I have time to think about these things? I would just go home and sleep. When I hadn't yet finished shooting a series, I would need to shoot another one after. It was continuous. The company did not give up on me. They offered me many opportunties to play different roles, so that I was able to discover which type of role could make me shine".

My personality is not suitable for this industry. In the past I was very quiet. I never had the ability to perform. When I was studying they asked me to perform in a school play. I said No, will people laugh at me? Perhaps it was because I studied in a girls school, the best thing would be not to approach or look at me".

Do My Best

In "Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain" she played the role of Miu Yeuk Lan. She stated that she only had to act weak. But in "Return of the Cuckoo" Kwan Hou was just like being herself. While shooting "Country Spirit" she realised she was able to get into character as Sun Fung. "I am very lucky that all the series I had accepted to fim had good storylines. Especially [War and Beauty], I had a lot of fun. The scenes consisted mainly of inner emotions". She did her best to act in those scenes. While the paparazzi's were reporting which cast members didn't get along. "[War and Beauty] I don't remember much about that now. Do you have anything else to talk about? Why would you not get along with so many people? These things I have no control over and I will not care. I am already controlling things I have control over which is to portray my roles well. Also how to enjoy my time when I am filming and making others around me feel comfortable. I will not handle anything regarding TV ratings or any news reports".

High Definition

TVB have already entered the High Definition TV century. Charmaine says "Yes it's quite scary. There are advantages and disadvantages. The whole picture looks 3D and more clearer. It looks more beautiful but the lighting technician has a very important role in this. If you have pimples they will appear clearly on the screen. I don't really take care of that, but I will do facials. It's very important to have enough rest. But you will not have enough time to rest while filming. Sometimes when I take off my makeup, I will put on a face mask.

Charmaine Sheh will get married as soon as she meets her Mr. Right

Charmaine Sheh

The first "Hong Kong Exhibition Trend" was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center yesterday. Charmaine Sheh and Skye Chan were guest of honor for the ribbon cutting opening ceremony.

Charmaine disclosed that since she entered the entertainment industry, she had never been to such a grand exhibition. This is because she is worried that people may recognize her. Reporter asked if she has sacrificed her personal freedom now? Charmaine said she has little time to spend with her family and definitely no time for dating too. She understands that there should be balance between the two, if she meets her Mr. Right whom she loves, she will get married very quickly. Charmaine revealed that she won't retire from the entertainment industry, but she may reduce her work load.

Speaking about Suki Tsui who has to get married due to her pregnancy, Charmaine responded by saying that if it is true, she congratulates her whole heartedly. On the topic of the rumor that Wong Hei and Kevin Cheng do not get along, Charmaine stated that she did not watch "Burning Flme III", but she had worked with Wong Hei before. The reporter reminded her that there was rumor that Wong Hei likes to change the lines, Charmaine said the film was very short and Wong Hei did not change her lines. Talking about Kevin has been in the entertainment industry for 16 years, and this is the first time he is accused of not getting along with other artist, Charmaine smiled and said "There will always be the first time and he is a bit late for that. Anyway, that is an experience for him. I have many rumors about me not getting along with other artists, like Sonija Kwok and Shirley Yeung too, but I take it as a publicity."

Charmaine Sheh & Tavia Yeung become good sisters after series collaboration

charmanie sheh

After TVB series, War and Beauty, another series which talks about struggling and conflicts in palace, Beyond The Realm Of Conscience is in filming progress. Yesterday, more than hundred casts from the series attended an opening video and big group photo event. Charmaine Sheh and Tavia Yeung became good sister after they collaborated together in this series. At the filming scene, they helped each other to straighten out costumes. Charmaine Sheh even helped Tavia to put on necklace. Their relationship seemed very close indeed.

Charmaine Sheh helps Tavia Yeung to put on necklace

In new series, Beyond The Realm Of Conscience, Charmaine Sheh and Tavia Yeung portrayed sworn good sisters and later on they would end up fighting with each other. However, they became TVB’s new “good sister” outside the screen. At the filming scene of opening video, they stood side by side and kept on whispering with each other. They also helped each other to straighten out their costumes. When Tavia’s neck ornaments tangled with her hair, her senior Charmaine helped her to take out the necklace and then put them on Tavia’s neck again. Their close relationship could be seen from this.

Lucky that no conflicts amongst series casts

During the interview, Charmaine Sheh expressed that it was hard to avoid conflicts and disagreement rumours in a series which put women as the main topic. But luckily, the casts of [Beyond] did not encountered any disagreement rumours as they got along very well with each other and she felt very warm throughout the filming progress. “There were so many female casts group together and there were no fighting amongst each other. This is rarely happen. This series is predicted to wrap up filming around end of May. Now I started to miss them already.”
