Jolin Tsai new boyfriend badminton player Vivian Dawson

Jolin Tsai and Vivian Dawson

Jolin Tsai's badminton date with new boyfriend

Following speculations of the pop princess's new romance with New Zealand model Vivian Dawson, the pair was sighted playing badminton together

Is Mandopop princess Jolin Tsai ready to go public with her latest squeeze?

Unlike her previous romances, Jolin is seen openly with rumoured new lover, New Zealand model Vivian Dawson.

According to a close-friend of the starlet, "Jolin plans to give it her all in this romance. She's not afraid of anything."

The voluptuous Mandopop starlet has also reportedly hinted at her newfound relationship recently, telling reporters to "give me more space", when questioned about the romance.

Having only touched down in Taipei after ending her promotional trip in China last Sunday, Jolin was immediately seen with Vivian - playing badminton on the same night.

The pop princess is apparently good at playing badminton - another sport she enjoys besides bowling - and often spent time playing the game during outings with close friends.

Ever since news of her alleged new romance surfaced weeks ago, the pair's relationship has been the talk of the town.

Despite being under intense media scrutiny, 30-year-old Jolin and 26-year-old Vivian continue to meet up frequently.

When asked by reporters what he thought of Jolin at his management office yesterday, the 1.9m tall model responded: "She is very nice!"

"Do you love her?" probed reporters.

Upon hearing the question, a visibly nervous Vivian laughed while answering in English yet again: "She is very nice!" and proceeded to escape into his office.

Jolin Tsai wait apology from Jay Chou because Patty Hou

All Jolin Tsai is waiting for is an apology.

That was what she said in an interview for a Taiwanese talk-show.

Jolin and Jay Chou's rumoured romance has been the talk of the town and their recent collaboration at Jay's concert gave reporters fodder to speculate a reunion.

While neither party has ever admitted to their relationship, Jolin did a rare tell-it-all session during an interview with veteran host Matilda Tao.

"The period of hating is over," Jolin said.

She revealed that it took her one year to get over the break-up - Jay was said to have broken up with Jolin for Taiwanese host Patty Hou.

She then added that Jay has yet to apologize to her for this.

Jolin's honesty incurred the anger of both her company and Jay's reps; and Jolin was reportedly barred from taking on any more interviews. However, the reps from Jolin's company denied the interview embargo.

Jolin appeared for an event recently and when reporters mentioned the interview with Matilda Tao, Jolin immediately changed her tone and accused the media of sensationalizing the story.

Then how does she feel about spending Chinese Valentine's Day as a singleton?

"I hope I'll get to spend my Valentine's Day next February with a boyfriend. I've got quite a few prospective suitors lately!" Jolin quipped.

Who are these suitors?

"I'm not saying anything this time!"

Jolin Tsai sexy hot pants in single Honey Trap

Jolin Tsai

The highly anticipated music video of Jolin Tsai's latest single, "Honey Trap" will finally be released this coming Tuesday. Jolin specially invited a Korean MV director to film this MV. Usually, Kpop artists allot two full days to film a music video, but due to Jolin's tight schedule, she could only spare a day. After 25 hours, Jolin danced for over a hundred times, where her body finally gave up and she had to take three hours of rest before continuing. She completed filming the MV as scheduled and even the Director commented, "Do Taiwanese artists all work this hard?"

In the MV, Jolin plays a trendy robot, purchased and brought home by the male lead of the video. The male lead thought he could control her, but Jolin turned out to have her own feelings and so she started doing the Voguing dance. Upon seeing the finished product, Jolin smiled, "After dancing for over a hundred times, at least it didn't go to waste. This dance is very unique and interesting. It can also be a form of shoulder muscle therapy if you can master it."

Jolin changed three different sets of clothes for the MV and even wore hot-pants, but she spoke truthfully, "The clothes this time are quite revealing. I like it a lot, but only for photo shooting and MV. I just don't dare to wear them outside!"

Jay Chou exes Jolin and Patty forced to work together

jolin tsai

Former love rivals, Taiwanese television host Patty Hou and singer-actress Jolin Tsai cross paths once again as the former joins the latter as 7-Eleven’s latest ambassador. Patty and Mayday vocalist Ah Xin will play a couple in a series of advertisements for 7-Eleven. Although Jolin is no longer the sole ambassador, her contract with 7-Eleven still out wins Patty’s takings by at least more than once. Jolin’s earnings amount to NT8 million (S$400,000).

Both Jolin and Patty previously dated Taiwanese pop-idol Jay Chou. It was rumoured that Patty was the one who came between Jolin and Jay. Since then, Patty and Jolin have avoided each other in terms of work and appearances. However, the former rivals are forced to meet again thanks to this campaign.

As 7-Eleven’s ambassador, Jolin has anchored many of their major ad campaigns and products. Therefore, it came as a surprise when Patty was chosen to front the new ads.

7-Eleven’s public relations officer explained, “This is because the pairing up between Ah Xin and Patty will give off a more intriguing effect.”

As ambassadors of hot beverages, Patty’s laughter has left a very deep impression on a shy Ah Xin. She joked, “My laughter is more ‘man’ than Ah Xin’s!” and even teased the singer, “Are you intending to fly solo? Why are you the only one in Mayday who is filming this ad?”

On his impression of Patty, Ah Xin said, “My first impression of her was that she sounded just like a news anchor. In the beginning, talking to her is just like being interviewed. However, as the ad production started to drag into midnight, I saw another side to her, and realised that she is actually a very lively person.”

According to reports, 7-Eleven first approached Ah Xin before coming up with a list of possible female partners. Taking Ah Xin’s opinions into consideration, Patty was eventually chosen as his female counterpart. 7-Eleven’s public relations officer expressed that Jolin was not on the list.

In the advertisement, both Ah Xin and Patty play two people who are “more than friends but not yet a couple” and there are many scenes of Patty being embraced in Ah Xin’s arms. Response from viewers have been lukewarm with the main gripe being the scenes felt more like an older sister looking after her younger brother. This, despite the fact that Ah Xin is two years older than Patty.

Jolin’s S$5million paycheck awaits her on New Year’s Day

jolin tsai

Labeled by the media as the CF (commercial) queen, Taiwanese pop princess Jolin Tsai certainly lives up to her reputation and took home a whopping S$9.5 million this year from her 10 advertisement deals.

While she may currently be on a three-month break, it was recently said that the 29-year-old already has a S$5 million paycheck waiting for her when she resumes work on New Year’s Day.

Due to her hectic schedule, it has been a long time since Jolin last took a vacation. Her management company decided to give her a three-month break from mid-September to end-December. Despite her long-term break, her car, shampoo and sportswear advertisers have decided to renew their contracts with her.

The pop princess will begin filming her new ads when she returns from her break. She will also be holding a series of three concerts in China in the earlier half of next year.

At the advertisers’ requests to have Jolin immediately film her new CFs on the first day of New Year, her manager laughingly commented, “There are two to be shot in Hong Kong and one in Taiwan. You can’t possibly split her into three parts!”

Taiwanese Diva Jolin Tsai Gets Excuse to Visit Sabah

jolin tsai

The most successful and popular singer in the Mandarin music world was also perfectly fluent answering questions in English at a press conference at 1Borneo Hypermall Friday.

No surprise though. Taiwanese diva Jolin Tsai 's first choice at the Fu Jen Catholic University was to study English Literature. Why English?

"The reason is I love English and I enjoyed speaking English at the time.

So I chose that," she said.

It's hard to believe a pint-sized Jolin commands a fan base numbering millions across Asia, not just in Taiwan but also China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and beyond.

It all started at age 18 when she won top prize at a MTV singing contest with a rendition of Whitney Houston hit "Greatest Love of All."

Universal Music signed her in, releasing a Single "Living With the World" with tremendous success', followed by two albums 'John 1019' and 'Don't Stop' which sold hundreds of thousands of copies each but success dipped with the third and fourth albums.

Sony Music bounced her back to her biggest breakthrough when they signed her up in 2002 and her first single under the Sony label entitled "Spirit of the Knight' topped the Taiwan album chart and sold over one million copies including her hit dance song 'See My 72 Changes'.

Shifting her music to become more dance oriented created a more vibrant image that triggered a meteoric rise in popularity.

Her 6th album 'Castle' topped the charts in many Asian countries, so was her 7th album 'Game' released in April 2005 which topped the charts across Asia including Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Singapore.

Her output of songs and albums have been so prolific it's easy to lose count of them.

But an event called 'Jolin Butterfly Promo Tour in Malaysia 2009' sponsored by Sports Toto Malaysia and Star Planet Sdn Bhd, gave her a good excuse to visit Sabah for the first time.

"I have very little impression of Sabah to say anything about the place," she said to a question.

"But don't be surprised if I come back for a holiday without any of you knowing it," she joked.

Given such high visibility, it's no surprise Jolin is a hot property for corporate branding exercises and in the case of Sabah, destination branding.

"Jolin is one artiste whom we like to associate with in our branding initiative, in addition to giving a real treat for all especially Jolin's fans," commented Francis Ng, Sports Toto Regional manager for Sabah and Sarawak.

Two rounds of show cases mark Jolin's Butterfly Promo Tour, the first of which was Friday's 1Borneo event followed by Berjaya Times Square KL on June 6, each of which has a one-and-a-half hour concert and a contest to select 100 lucky winners who get to met Jolin up close, he said.

"Whether Jolin knows much or little about Sabah does not matter. The fact that she comes to Sabah means a lot of fans will become aware of this place and follow when she returns to Taiwan because all that will spread through websites," said an Tiang Lai, Group Director of Sagajuta (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, developer of Iborneo.

"It's hot in here and maybe you'd like a cup of icy cola?"

Jolin Tsai hoped to hear "Yes please" when she braved Beijing's scorching sun on Tuesday to promote a cola brand at an outdoor press conference.

Patty Hou and Jolin Tsai to co-host Golden Melody Awards

patty houjolin tsai

Taiwan's esteemed Golden Melody Awards (GMA) will hold its 20th ceremony this year. While organizers wrack their brains for new ideas to entertain, netizens are already getting wind on the proposed run-down and guest list.

On top of that rumoured proposal, Patty Hou and Jolin Tsai, both Jay Chou's ex-girlfriends, were arranged to co-host the ceremony. Organizers, however, said they would avoid such gimmicks.

Other speculations include Tao Ching Ying and Hou as hosts, while Tsai and A-Mei would appear as special guest performers.

The director of the award ceremony commented, "We have not confirmed the hosts; performing guests would definitely be a current popular singer.

Concrete decisions will only be made after the nominees have been shortlisted."
In previous GMA where Tao, Hou, Barbie Hsu and Dee Hsu were hosts, Tsai was prize presenter and Chou absent, the Hsu sisters together with the spontaneous Hou, role-played the "trio" involved in the love triangle, resulting in a comedy.

To play on both of J Chou's ex-girlfriends again would lack novelty. Past experience has also shown that both ladies have their way of avoiding such awkward confrontation.

Viewers however, can look forward to the appearance of AuYeung Fei Fei, veteran Japanese singer.

The Taiwan Golden Melody Awards will be held at the Taipei Arena on June 27.
