Fahrenheit's fans donate 3.5tonnes' worth of relief items

fahreneheit taiwan band

The passing of Typhoon Morakot is inarguably one of the worst disasters to hit Taiwan in the past 50 years. Celebrities from all over Asia including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China are actively rallying the public for more donations to aid the suffering victims.

Taiwanese pop idol group, Fahrenheit, earnestly appealed to their fans for help and donations when they got wind of the devastating news. Inspired by their appeals, their appeals for help were met with an overwhelming response from their fans. Their generous donations were enough to fill three large lorries, with as much as 3.5tonnes of relief items donated over a course of just five days.

In response to the active donations made by their fans, band member Aaron Yan expressed, "There are many overseas fans who are unable to donate relief-items. They have been leaving messages on discussion boards in hopes that the company can help them with it. Actually, everyone can make donations to the Red Cross foundation or the World Vision organization."

Apart from taking time off to participate in the televised fundraiser event, the four-member group each bought 50 boxes of daily necessities for the affected Taiwanese citizens. The group also decided to donate the profits made from their Taipei concert to the relief fund.

"This fundraising activity has really touched me. I hope everyone can continue to make donations and help successfully rebuild the lives of these victims," said Jiro Wang. In appreciation for their fan's unyielding support, Fahrenheit promised to present fans with an exciting and spectacular concert for their Nanjing concert in the Olympic stadium on September 5.

Fahrenheit: hotter together

fahrenheit

Wu Chun, Jiro Wang, Aaron Yan and Calvin Chen may have achieved amazing results and individually in their various dramas and movies but they still say singing as boy band Fahrenheit is what they enjoy most. Their latest album Love You More and More seeks to express their inner most gratitude to the fans. We catch up with them to pose some questions.

Q: The four of you are by now very familiar with Singapore. You've been here a few times to promote your albums and concerts, so what do you like most about Singapore?

Wu: Singapore is probably the country I visited the most since I was a child because it's nearer (to Brunei). So I have many childhood memories about Singapore! Shopping and food. It's a luxury to be here!

Wang: I like Singapore for its clean air and environment. Public toilets, floors and roads are very clean and well maintained.

Yan: I hope to be able to spend Christmas here. The festive atmosphere is great and the environment, clean and beautiful.

Chen: I like the clean streets, multiracial society, skyscrapers, and cosmopolitan city. Singapore is also very well connected with the world.

Q: Similarities and differences are probably a test of the band's chemistry. How do you usually get along?

Fahrenheit: I think communication is the key, especially when we come from different walks of life. Chemistry definitely takes time to build up, but stage performances have indeed helped us become better partners and put up better performances.

Q: In this process, are there any conflicts? Four of you are all brilliant young fellows, each with eagerness and vigour, are there conflicts?

Fahrenheit: I think one benefit of being an all boys group is that big boys speak their minds. If there's any displeasure, just voice it. It's all for the better of our performances.

Q: You have been busy with your own dramas and movies in recent years but surprisingly you all are still tightly connected.. How do you guys keep in contact without any public awareness?

Fahrenheit: That is what the media portray us to be; as if we have disbanded. The truth is that the four of us always gather in private. We are only working individually when each of us has to promote our dramas, but when we release an album, we will be tied together for three to four months. It is not like what the media says about us, each developing our own career.

Q: Let's talk about the album Love You More and More. This is an interesting name. Is there any special meaning?

Fahrenheit: This is our third album and also is an establishment of the foundation, hoping that our fans will love us more and more. It is also an expression of our loves and passion for this job. The same-titled hit song is a bridge between the fans and us.

Q: You have also visited the Down Syndrome Association at Bishan to visit the patients this time round. Everyone has different understanding of charity purposes; some thinks it is a big thing, others may think it begins with you. What is your understanding about charity?

Chen: We don't have to shout out when we do charity, but I think as public figures, we are also public role models. When we start doing it, our supporters will follow our footsteps, and I think that's great. There is no need to join any community organizations, charity organizations, and so on. It can begin around you.

Q: I believe you also mean caring for your family. How do you communicate with your family when you are so busy? Especially Wu Chun, you are so far apart from them.

Wu: I can only give them a call whenever I'm free. When I go home every year, it's usually for less than a month, so time is always very precious. I will ask my company to inform me of any short breaks so that I can make a trip home.

Wang: I grew up with my mother, so whenever I travel, I'll get very uptight and I have to call her several times a day.

Yan: I'm usually very relaxed and happy when I'm with my family because time spent with them has decreased so I try not to show my stressed up emotions at home.

Chen: My elder sister got married last October and I'm the only boy left at home now. My parents seem to think that their boy has grown up and can be depended on. So I am now responsible for my parents and am their anchorage.

Q: Fahrenheit have let their warmth and also the strength of love show in their music. We hope this sincerity will lead to smoother careers. Thank you.

Fahrenheit: Thank you!

F4 Defeats Fahrenheit in Bringing 11 Billion Dollar of Income

f4fahrenheit

Last year, idol group F4 endorsed Taiwan tourism and acted promotion ambassadors to Japan and Korea. They brought in 11 billion dollars of profit for Taiwan. However, Fahrenheit who took over the endorsement was not able to bring in the same effect and only made 1.1 billion dollars in the first half of the year. Earlier it was rumored that because the promotional effects were not as good as anticipated, the Tourism Bureau might invite F4 to regroup and to endorse next year, however, Cheng Yi-ping, a representative for the Tourism Bureau expressed: [Who did you hear this from? There is no such thing. We are still asking for bids.]

F4 is extremely renowned in Japan and Korea. Last year, they became promotion ambassadors for Taiwan tourism with beautiful results. Although each member earned an endorsement fee of NTW $8M, tourists from Japan and Korea reached a record of 1.16 million people and brought in an estimated NTW $11B for Taiwan. This year, the newcomers Fahrenheit took over however their combined endorsement fee of $5 millions was far less than that of one person in F4. The endorsement fee for Fahrenheit was much cheaper and in addition, the four belonged to the same management company which made it easier for communication and coordination. In comparison to F4, other than not starring in a drama together, all other duties that they were supposed to do, nothing was left out.

Unfortunately, Fahrenheit’s first event for the year in February did not turn out well. First the rumor of fan club paying people to act as fans came out. Now, although it had not been even six months yet, it was rumored that because the endorsement effect was not as anticipated, the Tourism Bureau might go back and asks F4 to endorse again for next year. However because the endorsement fee for F4 was overly high, it might be some other type of collaborations instead. For example, this March, the Tourism Bureau spent $2M to set up an international fan club for Vic Zhou and had received $4 billion tourism income in return. This set a good precedence.

With regards to F4 taking up the duties again because the effect of Fahrenheit endorsing tourism was not as anticipated, Cheng Yi-ping expressed: [We won’t be asking for bids until June so right now, don’t know what will happen.] However, she emphasized that it was not due to poor results since Fahrenheit had their supporters too. Head of the Bidding Committee Hou Wen-Yan expressed: [I have not heard such a thing. I need to understand the situation a little more.] However, the managers for Jerry Yan and Vic Zhou both indicated that they had always been in contact with the Tourism Bureau but the question of taking up the endorsement again was still undecided. The manager for Fahrenheit indicated that Fahrenheit’s endorsement term was for 2 years and the contract will end until next July, therefore for the time being, there would not be any changes.

Jiro Wang had diarrhea needing to have emergency treatment

fahrenheit

Fahrenheit on the previous day had a press conference to announce the concerts on 24th October and 25th October at Taipei's Arena. But , Jiro because of previous promotions in Malaysia had caught the cold and had diarrhea. Yesterday looking weak and wearing a hat and mask, reluctantly still posed on stage. But not even after 10 minutes he quickly got off the stage to go to Tai'an hospital to get emergency treatment.

Having a weak body he knew the assistant accompanying him had to leave 1st, so with no choice he said " They always abandon me leaving me all alone!" but after the examination it was only found to be an ordinary cold and had no relation with the H1N1 influenza

His whole body lacking strength, Jiro was directly lifted out of bed from his home by staff members the previous morning. Not wearing the same promotional clothing as the other attending group members, he wore a shirt with a pair of jeans and with no make-up to the press conference. The staff also revealed that once he got there he had rushed to the toilet with diarrhea, After seeing the doctor, the staff member helped him get a taxi to let him rest in his home in Panchiao (city in Taiwan).

As for Arron Yan who was originally meant to star in "Mo Mo Love" but was taken over my Jiro, has been criticized by people of "leaving the mess for Jiro". Being misunderstood, he could no longer withstand it and wrote on the HIM website " don't bully me because of my age....." venting out his anger on the wild accusations.

Wu Chun Admits to be a Perfect Man

fahrenheit

Jiro Wang, Calvin Chan and Arron Yan frankly admitted that they were envious of Wu Chun doing movies and joked that they want a cameo appearance in Wu Chun’s current movie [14 Blades]!

Fahrenheit once again made a whirlwind trip to Malaysia for a press conference and an autograph session. For the press conference, three of them wore black and white in perfect tacit agreement. In addition to speaking freely about their third album [Loving You More and More], the four of them also shared their recent activities and future plans.

Jiro Wang, Calvin Chan and Arron Yan readily admitted that they were envious of Wu Chun who was in two movies and joked that they want to exchange places with Wu Chun next year in that Wu Chun would shoot three TV dramas while they would do movies. Calvin Chan even said drolly that he wanted to have a cameo in Wu Chun’s movie [14 Blades] which had everyone in the room laughing.

Good Brothers in Real Life

Also, because Calvin Chan collaborated with each of the other three in dramas such as the upcoming [Momo Love] and [Parfait Tic] as well as the earlier [Romantic Princess] and in each drama, he played the love rival of all three, the other three took the opportunity to “accuse” Calvin of trying to “steal other people’s love interest”. Calvin could only laughed ruefully that in real life, they were actually like brothers.

As for Wu Chun who had been consistently rumored that he did not want to do any more TV dramas, he also took the opportunity to clarify matters: [Some people said that I won’t do TV dramas anymore but in reality, I am just waiting for the right role to come along. I still want to do TV dramas very much!]

When asked whether he had any opinions on the romantic rumors of Jerry Yan and Ella that came out during the shooting of [Just Want to Depend on You], Wu Chun expressed with a laugh that no matter who Ella works with, she would be very good to them. The other three also chimed in and praised that Ella is a nice person and that everyone likes her. Earlier Ah Sa had praised Wu Chun was a perfect man. When asked how he felt about that, Wu Chun laughed: [I think I am too because I love family life. Fahrenheit are all good men.]

When asked if the four of them ever considered releasing a solo album, Calvin Chan expressed that Fahrenheit was a four-as-one group. Currently the most they would do was to have a solo song within their album. Anything else would depend on the arrangement of the record company.

Fahrenheit will be performing their second concerts in Taiwan, Macau and other Chinese cities. In view of everyone getting injured in the previous concerts, Calvin Chan expressed that they had learned from the experiences of the past eight concert performances and knew which areas needed more attention so that no one would get injured again!
